The Philadelphia 76ers have announced officially the signing of Tony Battie. The veteran 34-year-old center arrives to the Sixers after spending last season in the New Jersey Nets, where he landed last summer from the Orlando Magic, averaging 2.4 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.

Evan Turner is officially a Sixer. The Philadelphia 76ers have announced the signing of the 21-year-old guard, who was selected with the 2nd overall pick in the last NBA draft. Turner arrives to Philadelphia from the University of Ohio State after averaging 20.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game in his junior year.

Luis Scola is a free agent after his contract with the Houston Rockets expired last season. The Argentinian 30-year-old forward is expecting an offer from the Rockets, but is also considering other options. As his agent Claudio Villanueva confirmed, Scola has attracted the interest of the Nets, and has also two offers from European team. According to the Greek media, Panathinaikos could be one of them. The Greek club could be also interested in two other NBA players, still under contract: the Spanish guard Rudy Fernández, from the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Argentinian forward Andrés Nocioni, recently traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Sacramento Kings and the Philadelphia 76ers have reached to an agreement to send Andrés Nocioni and Spencer Hawes to the 76ers, and Samuel Dalembert to the Kings, according to ESPN. Nocioni expressed his desire to leave Sacramento days ago, while Dalembert will bring his $12.9 million expiring contract to the Kings.

As expected, Doug Collins will be the new head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, as the NBA team has announced officially. The veteran coach, who has worked as a TV analyst since leaving the Washington Wizards in 2003, will replace Eddie Jordan. The 76ers has signed Collins to a 4-year contract.

The 76ers want to get rid of the $51 million, 3-year contract of Elton Brand, and would demand to include the forward in any trade discussion. The Minnesota Timberwolves could be interested in the second pick, though it seems unlikely they would agree to land Brand.

Turner, who has been an assistant coach during the last 14 years, is also on the radar of the Philadelphia 76ers to take the reign of the team.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Larry Brown could be trying to be the next president of the Philadelphia 76ers. The current head coach of the Charlotte Bobcats has targeted Milt Newton, now in the front office of the Washington Wizards as the General Manager, and the Atlanta Hawks' Mike Woodson as coach. Woodson will leave the team if the extension offer from the Hawks is as low as expected.

Another deal is done. Milwaukee Bucks will send rookie guard Jodie Meeks, Dutch center Francisco Elson and a second-round draft pick to Philadelphia in exchange of Slovenian center Primoz Brezec and guard Royal Ivey. This is the second trade completed by Milwaukee in the last 24 hours. Hakim Warrick and Joe Alexander are the two players that will land in Chicago in exchange of John Salmons.
