Despite the early reports about the continuance of Pape Sy in Le Havre for at least another season, the Atlanta Hawks, the franchise that holds his NBA rights, hasn't given up on landing him this summer. According to the agent of the 22-year-old French guard, Pascal Levy, the Hawks are currently in talks with Le Havre to negotiate the buy-out of Sy.

Jason Collins is back to the Atlanta Hawks. The 31-year-old center has agreed to re-sign with the NBA franchise, where he arrived last summer. Collins, just saw action in 24 games in the 2009-10 season, averaging 0.7 points and 0.4 rebounds in 4.8 minutes per game.

As expected, Josh Powell will continue his career in the Atlanta Hawks. The 27-year-old center was officially announced by the NBA franchise. Powell, who was signed to a one-year, $1.1 million contract, arrives to his new team after playing since 2008 for the Los Angeles Lakers, winning two championships, and averaging 2.7 points and 1.8 rebounds per game last season.

The Phoenix Suns are close to land Josh Childress and Hedo Turkoglu. The NBA franchise would send the Brazilian guard Leandro Barbosa and the center Dwayne Jones to the Toronto Raptors in exchange of the 31-year-old Turkish forward, who is reported to be unhappy in the Canadian team. On the other hand, the Suns would also reach to an agreement to land Josh Childress via sign-and-trade with the Atlanta Hawks, that would receive a 2012 second round pick. Childress, who has played for Olympiakos during the last two seasons, would be signed to a five-year, $33 million contract.
UPDATE: The Toronto Raptors would then move Jones to the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange of the French forward Boris Diaw.

The Atlanta Hawks have signed Jordan Crawford, selected by the New Jersey Nets with the 27th overall pick in the last NBA draft, and later traded to the Hawks. The 21-year-old forward arrives to Atlanta from the University of Xavier, where Crawford averaged 20.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in his sophomore year.

Khimki is interested in a top American small forward. Besides Romain Sato, from Montepaschi Siena, another candidate could be Maurice Evans. The 31-year-old American forward could be back to Europe (he played for Olympiakos and Benetton Treviso) after six years in the NBA, averaging 5.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game last season with the Atlanta Hawks.

Joe Johnson, one of the top free agents of the NBA summer, could decided to stay in Atlanta. The Hawks have offered a $119 million, six-year contract to the 29-year forward, who averaged 21.3 points and 4.9 assists per game. Johnson, in the Hawks since the 2005-06 season, could be close to accept the offer.

Josh Childress has declared in a statement that he hasn't decided where to play next season, through he won't have any problem to be back to Olympiakos. The 27-year-old American forward can opt out of his contract to move to the NBA (where the Washington Wizards and the Atlanta Hawks could be interested in signing him) or stay another year in Olympiakos. The Greek club, though, would like to get rid of his $7 million contract.

The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to send the rights of recently drafted Damion Jones to the New Jersey Nets in exchange of the 27th (Jordan Crawford, from Xavier) and 31st pick (Tibor Pleiss, from the German team Brose Baskets Bamberg). Jones is a senior forward from the University of Texas who averaged 18.0 points and 10.3 rebounds per game last season.

As expected, Larry Drew was promoted officialy to head coach of the Atlanta Hawks to replace Mike Woodson, who has been in charge of the NBA team during the last six seasons. This will be the first head coaching job of Drew, who has worked as an assistant from several teams since 1992.

The replacement of Mike Woodson in the Atlanta Hawks would be one of the three final candidates (Dwane Casey, Larry Drew and Mike Jackson), according to Yahoo! Sports. Larry Drew, already in the Hawks as an assistant, is a contender for the vacancy, along with Dwane Casey, assistant in the Dallas Mavericks, and the former NBA player Mark Jackson, currently a TV analyst. The decision could be announced tomorrow, on Friday.

Sergiy Gladyr, drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the 49th pick in 2009, won't try to earn a spot next season in the NBA. The 20-year-old forward has played this season in Suzuki Manresa, averaging 9.4 points and 2.1 rebounds per game in the Spanish ACB league. Gladyr will stay another season in Manresa.

The Chicago Bulls keep on searching a replacement for Vinny Del Negro, who was fired two weeks ago. After firing Mike Woodson, the Atlanta Hawks have started the search of a new head coach, and four candidates have already emerged.
