It's official. David Blatt will be the head coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv for the next three years. The American-Israeli coach will be back to Maccabi where he worked from 2000 and 2004. Blatt arrives from Aris Thessaloniki, and will replace Pini Gershon, recently appointed as team manager of Maccabi.

Aris Thessaloniki could be interested in Guy Goodes to be the next coach of the team, if David Blatt finally takes over Maccabi Tel Aviv. Goodes is without a team since leaving Hapoel Jerusalem days ago. The short list of candidates for Aris Thessaloniki coaching job also includes Jure Zdovc, Velimir Perasovic and Vlada Vukoicic.

The Israeli-American coach even let the door open to the possibility of going back to Aris Thessaloniki next year, though the Greek team could be already considering Jure Zdovc as his replacement. Another name, according to the Greek media, is David Blatt, who is reported to be in talks with Aris Thessaloniki to extend his contract for two more years. Blatt is represented by the same agent, Gorka Arrinda, of the two last head coaches of Valencia, Fotis Katsikaris and Neven Spahija. If Blatt is signed to take over Valencia, the ACB rules would force him to leave the Russian national team before starting the season.
