Richard Jefferson opts out of his contract with the San Antonio Spurs

Unexpectedly, Richard Jefferson has decided to opt out of the final season of his contract and become a free agent. The 30-year-old forward will forfait $15.2 million with this decision, and expected move due to have a supposed lower market value as a free agent. Last season, Jefferson averaged 9.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game after arriving to the Spurs in the preseason via trade.
