Turk Telekom signs Heiko Schaffartzik, Larry Owens, Diamon Simpson and Marquis Gilstrap

Turk Telekom has announced an agreement with four players. The Turkish team has landed, as expected, the 26-year-old German guard Heiko Schaffartzik, who left the New Yorker Phantoms days ago. Turk Telekom has also inked Larry Owens (last season in the Tulsa 66ers), Diamon Simpson (who finished last season in the PBA playing for the Alaska Aces) and Marquis Gilstrap (from the University of Iowa State)

New Orleans Hornets send Morris Peterson and the rights to Cole Aldrich for two first-round picks

The New Orleans Hornets and the Oklahoma City Thunder have reached to a deal that will send Morris Peterson and the rights of the recently drafted Cole Aldrich, from the University of Kansas, in exchange of the upcoming 21th (Craig Brackins, from Iowa State) and 26th (Quincy Pointdexter, from Washington) picks of the first round.

Nick Nurse will finally stay in the Iowa Energy

After a troubled week, Nick Nurse has finally decided to stay as the head coach of the Iowa Energy. The British coach first left the D-League franchise to become an assistant to Greg McDermott in the Iowa State college, but McDermott decided to move to Creighton. Iowa State appointed Fred Hoiberg as the new head coach of the Cyclones, which closed the doors to Nurse, who will in charge of the Energy the next season.

Fred Hoiberg, new head coach of Iowa State

The former NBA player Fred Hoiberg is the new head coach of Iowa State. The Cyclones had to find a new coach after the departure of Greg McDermott, who took over Creighton. Another candidate was the Iowa Energy coach, Nick Nurse, who was already attached as McDermott's assistant, but finally the college has decided to hire Hoiberg, who was working as vice president of basketball operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Nick Nurse leaves Iowa Energy to be an assistant of the Iowa State college

Nick Nurse has left his job as the Iowa Energy head coach, in the D-League, to join the staff of the Iowa State college. The British-American coach arrived to the Energy in 2007, being the only head coach so far of the history of the franchise. Nurse will now be an assistant of Greg McDermott in the Cyclones.

Alba Berlin signs Iowa State player Lucca Staiger

Alba Berlin has signed guard Lucca Steiger until 2012. Steiger recently left Iowa State college where he was playing last two years, because the young German prospect decided to go back to his home country. That signing mean that guard Oskar Fassler will go to Pro A team Jena.
