As expected, Neven Spahija was announced today as the new coach of Fenerbahce. The 47-year-old Croatian coach arrives from Power Electronics Valencia, where he won the EuroCup last season, and will replace Bogdan Tanjevic. This will be the first stint in Turkey for Spahija, who has coached in Slovenia, Croatia, Russia, Italy, Lithuania and Israel during his career.

Bogdan Tanjevic won't be back to the bench of Fenerbahce. The Montenegrin coach, who left temporarily the Turkish team months ago due to health problems, has decided not to coach another club. Tanjevic, in active as a coach since 1971, will be in charge of the Turkish national team in the next World Championship.

After leaving temporary the duties as the Turkish national team, Bogdan Tanjevic could be back to work in August 1st. The veteran Montenegrin coach, former European champion with Bosna Sarajevo in 1979, will take over again the national team and will be in charge in the next World Championship, to be celebrated in Turkey.

Montenegrin coach Bogdan Tanjevic was diagnosed with colon cancer, according to Turkish media. 63-year-old coach, currently in Fenerbahce and also in Turkish National Team, will have to fight the same cancer as Denver Nuggets coach George Karl in 2005.
